Scientific paper

The bow shock associated with the infrared source L1448-star is one of the best examples of the interaction of an outflow from a recently formed star with the surrounding medium. The shock region is well defined and is known to emit primarily in the S{1} line of molecular hydrogen. We plan a series of deep images in the Pa-alpha and molecular hydrogen lines to investigate the detailed structure of this region. We will also use the long wavelength polarizer to study the detailed structure of the reflection nebulosity associated with the source.
