Recently discovered bi-polar jets and high-ionization coronal lines in some supersoft X-ray sources (SSS) indicates very energetic processes at work in these highly evolved binaries. We propose to study the known Magellanic Cloud SSS, which are the most luminous and most easily observed SSS, to determine what physical conditions in the accretion disk and near the compact star give rise to these jets and high- ionization emissions. From these data a more realistic model of the SSS can be developed.
