Based on the spectrophotometric data on the geometric albedo in the profiles of methane absorption bands and Raman scattering features in the wavelength range from λ 356 to 939 nm, The authors determined the geometric mean radii r0 (lognormal size distribution of particles), ratio β = τR/(τR + τa), and methane mixing ratio gamma averaged along the line of sight for four levels in the atmosphere where the centers of methane absorption bands λλ 727, 619, 543, and 441 nm are formed. A satisfactory agreement between calculations and observations can be reached when one has a variety of the parameter sets. At the same time it is obvious that the parameters vary with height, and thus the scattering function also changes with height.
