Neutral winds data for the mesosphere and lower thermosphere, obtained from the Saskatoon Medium Frequency (MF) radar, are compared with fluctuations in the earth's geomagnetic field: local and planetary indices are used. A variety of analyses is used including direct comparisons with hourly mean winds and with daily mean wind parameters including mean winds, and tidal and gravity wave (GW) amplitudes. These, supplemented by lagged correlations and consideration of data from disturbed and quiet geomagnetic (world) days, demonstrate that tidal amplitudes (12 h, 24 h) decrease and GW amplitudes increase during geomagnetic disturbances at heights from about 90-105 km.
