From the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) spectroscopic data, we have compiled a large low-redshift active galactic nuclei (AGN) sample including 1,543 broad-line and 3,035 narrow-line AGN. We measure and compare the emission line luminosity functions of Seyfert 1s and Seyfert 2s and show that the relative number of the two types of AGN is a function of luminosity. We demonstrate that the AGN nuclear luminosity is independent of the host galaxy luminosity.
