We present preliminary results from Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) scans across the Shapley Supercluster of Galaxies and discuss our sensitivity for mass, temperature and magnetic field of the intra-supercluster hot plasma. We performed twenty, 40 degree long scans in a search for intra-supercluster scale diffuse X-ray emission. Some evidence has been accumulated for the existance of such diffuse emission in superclusters from other observations. Analysis of the supercluster diffuse emission will measure the temperature and mass of the intra-supercluster baryonic gas and estimate its contribution to Omega_0 , or set improved limits. Detection or upper limits on a diffuse emission in the hard X-ray band could be used to set lower limits on the intra-supercluster magnetic field. A magnetic field would contribute to the pressure suppport in the intra-supercluster gas and thus would be an important factor in estimating the total mass of the supercluster. Physical nature of the intra-supercluster plasma has important implications to our structure formation scenarios.
