Shock electron heating due to breakdown of adiabaticity in a small-scale
quasistationary electrostatic field in the shock ramp is analyzed
analytically and numerically and compared with experimental data. We
derive statistical dependencies of the heating on the shock parameters.
Relations obtained numerically are in good agreement with experiment.
