A renewal of interest in Lyot coronagraphy started about 10 years ago when concepts of improved stellar coronagraphs were proposed and studied theoretically. Among them, one of the most prolific coronagraphs, is the Four Quadrant Phase Mask (FQPM) proposed by Rouan et al. in 2000. It has been tested not only in the lab like a lot of other context but it has been installed on a ground-based telescope (Boccaletti et al. 2004) in combination with Adaptive Optics system and has already provided scientific results (Gratadour et al. 2005, Riaud et al. 2006). The main limitation of the FQPM, as all phase mask coronagraphs, is the chromaticity of the mask dephasing. Here we propose to use a combination of chromatic FQPM in cascade to achromatize the overall dephasing of the coronagraph. First, we will present a theoretical study of the achromatization using this Multiple-Stage FQPM. Then, preliminary tests of this concept will be shown.
