An optical model of the Martian atmosphere at the limb and terminator is constructed which is adequate to ultraviolet observations at the center and at the edge of the ozone absorption band. The model includes an ozone layer 7 km thick with a maximum concentration of 10 to the 10th per cu cm at heights of 35-40 km in the morning; in the evening the concentration undergoes a threefold decrease. The upper aerosol layer consists of aqueous condensate and is located at heights of 20-40 km in the morning; in the evening this layer is located at 50-80 km and is an order of magnitude less dense. The lower aerosol layer contains dust, whose reflection properties increase from 2800 to 2600 A.
