Measurements of the transmission through the lower atmosphere have been
made to confirm earlier work on high altitude laser scatter. Molecular
scatter has been detected up to 90 km. Further evidence is found for the
existence of an aerosol layer at 71 km. No intense scattering from dust
layers at greater heights has been observed.
