After recalling a few basic concepts from General Relativity theory, the search for gravitational waves with resonant bar technique is illustrated. The principles of operation, the sensitivity and bandwidth of resonant detectors are discussed for impulsive, periodic and stochastic signal detection. An up to date review of the experiments going on with resonant antennae and the future prospects of such detectors are given; in particular, the new projects to use spheres as resonant detectors are very briefly presented.
