Haxton (1988) proposed the use of I-127 as the active element in s a solar neutrino detector, and estimated the cross section of B-8 neutrinos on I-127 to be between 7.2 x 10 to the -42nd and 8.9 x 10 to the -42nd sq cm, considerably larger value than the cross section on Cl-37. Here, a configuration-mixing quasi-particle Tamm-Dancoff approximation is used to calculate the expected event rate for an I-127 solar neutrino detector. The resulting cross section for B-8 solar neutrinos is 2.2 x 10 to the -42nd sq cm. Furthermore, the Be-7 cross section is so large that the Be-7/Be-8 ratio is very different from that in Cl-37.
