In this talk we consider the question of whether the neutrinos possess a non-zero magnetic moment μv is is considered. Various gauge models are examined, including minimal extensions of the standard model, the GUT SO(10) model and exotic models which lead to large μv/mv. The implications of the Zee model in three generations are studied. The phenomenology of the chirality flip in the presence of a magnetic field is studied, both in vacuum as well as in a medium with particular emphasis on the conditions for the existence of resonances in the sun or a neutron star. The various experimental limits on μv (laboratory experiments, cosmological, astrophysical and supernova) are analyzed in some detail.
