It is demonstrated that, for motions allowing the approximation of the gravitational field by the central linear field, the equations of Mayer's variational problem for a point with a limited mass flow rate admit an analytical solution. The case when the ellipse is the hodograph of the basis vector corresponding to the alternation of the zero and maximum thrust sections is identified and analyzed.
