The highest priority augmentation of flight software in support of GHRS for build 4.0 is capability of return to brightest point of an SSA spiral search. This will allow a true flux peakup in the SSA, a sorely missed capability currently. The initial SSA Spiral Search Test (3999) suggested an error of about 0.16 arcsec in LSA to SSA PDB values. This test will provide confirmation of current alignment uncertainties for mirror A2. This may allow improvements in upcoming A2-SSA observations before the optimal solution (return to brightest) is available. This test replaces, and should be an improvement upon, Prop. 2839 HRS/FGS Fine Alignment.
