The characteristics of various class A stars are described. The spectral properties of various A stars, and the relation between changes in spectral type and absolute magnitude are studied. The spectra, magnetic fields, and abundances for stars whose occurrence depends on effective temperature (Am and Ap stars) are examined. The instability strip and horizontal branch of H-R diagrams for A stars are analyzed. The properties of white dwarfs, which are of spectra class A, are discussed.
