Pixel pattern morphologies for different radiation stimuli in X-ray CCDs
are summarized and found to be quite distinctive within radiation
groups. Throughput and event pile-up in future in-orbit X-ray telescopes
are examined and various strategies for optimizing onboard event
selection are discussed.
