Origin And Formation Of The Universe, Particle-Theory And Field-Theory Models Of The Early Universe
Scientific paper
In many versions of the inflationary universe the reheating process is more complicated than had been supposed. The light particles produced are initially wildly out of equilibrium and often stay that way for many Hubble times. This nonequilibrium situation facilitates a unique form of baryogenesis: a baryon asymmetry is built up via 2⇆2 scattering processes. Here I choose a specific grand unified theory [extended SU(5)] and calculate the magnitude of this asymmetry.
