1985 was another year of remarkable events on Jupiter. The highlights were as follows: 1) the STB was still faded between white ovals FA and BC. Alongside this segment, the former South Tropical Dislocation began, with narrowing and darkening of the STropZ. As oval BC moved away from the Great Red Spot, a shading resembling a South Tropical Disturbance developed alongside it, spanning both the STB and the STropZ. The STB Fade also began to extend from oval BC to oval DE as this segment passed the GRS; 2) There were major new outbreaks of white rifts in the SEB. They initially started near a long- lived stationary white spot in the STropZ ; 3) The EZs white spot which appeared in 1976 still persisted; 4) White rifts in the NEB temporarily expanded and disrupted the dark projections on the NEB south edge as they passed; 5) an extraordinary 'dirty orange' shading fills the NTropZ.
