Aurora characteristics in the daytime sector of the oval are investigated on the basis of data from high-latitude observatories. It is shown that poleward-moving auroral arcs are observed at near-midday hours in the same longitude interval as the region of intense 630.0-nm emission. An asymmetry in auroral characteristics before and after midday is observed. Attention is also given to intensity variations of red and green line emission of atomic oxygen during the development of auroral arcs.
