A method for the estimation of the lunar gravity parameters from low-altitude line-of-site (LOS) accelerations of artificial satellites, based on the scheme developed by Kascheev (1984), is described. The LOS acceleration profiles used were those obtained from four Command Service Modules of Apollo 14, 15, 16, 17 by Muller et al., 1974; Sjogren et al., 1972; and Sjogren et al., 1974. The observed LOS accelerations are compared with the values predicted by initial Ferrari (F, 1977), and Bills and Ferrari (BF, 1980) and extended F + LOS and BF + LOS models. The results indicate that the high accuracy and resolution of this technique make the LOS data a valuable part of observed information for possible investigations of the lunar gravity field.
