We present the analysis of the distribution of the distance of muon pairs detected deep underground by the MACRO experiment. A detailed analysis of the low separation region pointed out an excess of experimental data with respect to the Monte Carlo expectation. The effect is discussed taking into account the μ+N-->μ+N+μ+μ- process.
