First detected by Cassini in early 2002, the kilometric radiation of Saturn (SKR) is now the most intense planetary signal available to the RPWS instrument. Cassini will enter Saturn's magnetosphere in July 2004. We have used the last six months of data to establish some statistical properties of the emission and compare with our previous knowledge, from Voyager and Ulysses. The direction finding capability of the RPWS instrument is used for unambiguously identifying Saturn and avoiding any contamination of the analysed data set by some Jovian or Solar emissions. A particular attention is given to the SKR rotational modulation problem (is the SKR period variable or not ?), and to the variations in frequency of the main SKR emission band, possibly linked to the existence of an high order magnetic field anomaly.
