Recent data from the Akeno [1] Giant Air Shower Array seem to statistically support the idea that the Cosmic Ray spectrum does extend beyond the GZK limit. The challenge is set for finding the mechanisms that produce these UHECR as well as their origin and composition. The Pierre Auger Observatories will consist of two hybrid systems employing water Cherenkov tank arrays overlooked by atmospheric fluorescence detectors covering the entire celestial sphere. A description follows.
