Recent observations of the heliosphere during the rise, peak and decline of solar activity, in particular those by the Ulysses spacecraft over a wide latitude range and between 1 and 5 AU, have revealed details of both the large and small scale changes in the heliospheric magnetic field during this time. We review recent results regarding heliospheric signatures of the solar polarity reversal; large scale magnetic field structure; magnetic field angles in the polar heliosphere; and global variations in waves and turbulence. In addition, we discuss the properties of waves and turbulence around the edges of coronal holes, as observed by Ulysses near solar maximum.
