A study of the effect of enhanced electron temperatures on the higher-frequency, shorter-wavelength modes of the Farley-Buneman instability at high latitudes has found a reduction of the parallel wave vector value in all cases, and results that are closer to those obtained from fluid theory than had been implied by previous calculations. The corrections employed in the present calculation increase in importance with linear growth rate, due to the production of high electron temperatures by unstable plasma wave heating. These results are pertinent to the auroral E-region.
