Spread and modulation transfer functions for: (1) the aperture of a Cassegrain telescope with main mirror radius of 125 cm and central obscuration radius of 35 cm; (2) a similar aperture, but with six circular support pads for a window, of radius 10 cm at a distance of 83.3 cm from the center (the support pads acting as additional obscurations); (3) an aperture consisting of six circular windows inscribed in a circle of radius 125 cm whose total area corresponds to the area of a circle of radius 107.09 cm, including a central obscuration circle with a radius of 35 cm; and (4) an annular aperture with radii 107.09 cm and 35 cm, corresponding to the area in case three were computed. The Rayleigh criterion for a circular aperture corresponds to a modulation of 0.1538. For an object consisting of parallel black and white stripes, this occurs for 0.05 arcsec. Resolution of 0.1 arcsec is reached with a modulation of 0.20 for apertures one to four.
