Based on three-dimensional modeling of the seasonal water cycle, about
0.2-1 kg/cu-m or 150-750 ppm by mass of adsorbed water (but no
near-surface water ice) is predicted in the martian soil at the sites of
the Mars Polar Lander and Deep Space 2.
