Possible lightning in Titan's troposphere is considered to provide an important energy source for the production of some minor species such as ethylene, acetylene or hydrogen cyanide. The fate of such species after the production by lightning is simulated by a 3-dimensional Titan general circulation model. The molecules are produced along vertical channels of cloud-to-ground lightning stroke 15 km long with an efficiency of 5× 1026 molecules per flash. In general chemical species produced by lightning are rapidly mixed horizontally by tidal wind wherever lightning occurs. The vertical transport pattern of ethylene between the troposphere and stratosphere is dependent on the emission scenario and background abundance.
