Pulse height distribution of Cerenkov radiation associated with extensive air showers (EAS) of primary energy Ep ≥ 1016eV, detected at the Gauhati University air shower array, have been simulated for four different primary mass composition models assuming (1) Cerenkov intensity to be proportional to the track-length integral and (2) lateral distribution as an exponential function. The technique of simulation has been given in detail. Comparison of the simulation results with the experimental data favours a composition having predominantly protons above 1016eV.
