Helioseismology, the science of using the solar global oscillations to probe the physical and dynamic structures of the solar atmosphere and the solar interior is introduced. Results show that on the global scale, understanding of the physical conditions in the solar interior are approximately correct, e.g., the depth of the convection zone, the radial dependance of the rotation curve, the temperature and the density stratifications. However, there are clear discrepancies when detailed comparisons between theories and observations are made. These discrepancies may be caused by lacking knowledge of the boundary conditions, uncertainties in the knowledge of the equation of state, or inadequate treatment of convection and magnetic fields.
