Relativistic Effects: Gamma-Ray Bursts, Relativistic Effects: Tests

Scientific paper

According to recent models of the sources of gamma-ray bursts the extremely energetic emission is caused by shells expanding with ultrarelativistic velocity. The authors demonstrate several relativistic effects associated with these models, which are very pronounced due to the great velocity of the shell. It is shown how the observed properties of a burst are modified by aberration and the Doppler effect. The apparent luminosity as a function of time is calculated. Modifications due to the motion of the star away from the observer are calculated.
