Singularities And Cosmic Censorship
Scientific paper
In a recent paper [Phys. Rev. D 53, 3472 (1996)], Antia has claimed that strong curvature naked singularities arising in spherically symmetric dust collapse are unstable. We show that his claimed proof of instability is incorrect and point out its limitations. We explain further that his stability criterion actually has implications against cosmic censorship, and in fact it rules out black hole solutions as unstable, including the Oppenheimer-Snyder black holes, from the purview of cosmic censorship.
