The present analysis, based on recent data, confirms the relationship found by Khromov (1965) and Campbell (1968) between neutral and singly ionized species. The results of an analysis of the forbidden O I and N I lines in the spectra of planetary nebulae show that the strength of the forbidden O I line at 6300 A in optically thin planetaries is directly proportional to that of the forbidden O II line at 3727 A over a range of more than two orders of magnitude.
