The paper presents a statistical mechanism for the acceleration of magnetospheric particles in a nonstationary magnetic field during the interaction of the particles with Alfven waves. It is assumed that the particles are trapped in a system of magnetic mirrors; the magnetic field undergoes periodic disturbance near the mirrors, and the motion of particles between the mirrors is analogous to particle motion between walls, one of which is periodically oscillating. The efficiency of this magnetic acceleration mechanism is considered.
