The central region of the Virgo Cluster includes the giant elliptical galaxy M87 which has been extensively studied as a low-energy x-ray source. In hard x-rays the nearby Seyfert 2 galaxy NGC 4388 can be more intense and may dominate the hard x-ray emission from the Virgo cluster. The OSSE instrument on the COMPTON Observatory has observed these two sources on two ocassions. The first was 17 Sept 1992 - 8 Oct 1992 and the second was 26 Aug 1993 - 6 Sept 1993. These represent the most sensitive observations of this region of the sky in low-energy gamma-rays; however the analysis is complicated by the large 3.7 x 11.4 degree field-of-view of the OSSE detectors and the 1.2 degrees separation between M87 and NGC 4388. Preliminary results of the spectra and variability of both sources will be presented.
