The last few years have seen significant observational progress and a number of surprises in the study of highly magnetized neutron stars, which include not only radio pulsars and magnetars, but also possibly thermally-emitting isolated neutron stars and various radio transients and bursters. I will highlight these observations, and discuss some of the physics that may be important for their understanding.
