In the beginning of 19th century, de la Lande's "Astronomia of
Sterrekunde" (Dutch version translated from the French 2nd ed.) was
introduced to Japan. The shogunate astronomers made a research of
European position astronomy through "Astronomia of Sterrekunde", and
they succeeded in a revision of Japanese ephemeris in 1844.
