Scientific paper

The paper suggests two possible explanations of the observed decrease in
the average number density of galaxies with increasing distance r from
the observer. Both are based on the fact that the invariant volume of
space around and within a straight cosmic-string bundle increases more
slowly with r than in Minkowski space.
