Summary of the ESO Workshop on "Low Mass Star Formation and Pre-Main
Sequence Objects". Future observational opportunities by means of
forthcoming more sensitive IR and X-ray satellites as well as the use of
the new generation of very large telescopes are described. The present
knowledge of pre-main sequence objects is outlined.
