In this paper, relative brightness profiles along the plasma tail axis of Comet Halley and along several transverse sections of January 4, 1986 are analyzed with the aid of Nazarchuk's diffusion model and other relevant data. By fitting the observed profiles with theoretical profiles, certain physical parameters for the plasma tail are estimated, including the mean lifetime of CO(+) ions, the longitudinal (along tail axis) and transverse diffusion coefficients and lower and upper limits of magnetic field along the tail axis.
