We have investigated entry and loss processes of energetic electrons during magnetic storms based on the MDS-1 observation along a GTO orbit from March 2002 to July 2003. It is known that the electrons of the outer radiation belt frequently enter and fill the slot region in the recovery phase of the large (Dst < -100) storms and, in some cases, generate a new peak between the inner and outer radiation belt. The MDS-1 measurements revealed that the intermediate energy (0.4 < E < 0.9 MeV) electrons of the outer radiation belt are transported into the slot region by the radial diffusion process over a few days and fill the slot region during the recovery phases of the several large storms. However, the high energy (E ~ 1.1 MeV) electrons are not well transported into the slot region and do not fill the slot region. At the time, the inner edge of the energetic electron belt becomes steepened and moves inward closest to L < 3. The spatial and temporal profiles of the electrons with different energy are deeply related to the radial diffusion transportation, loss mechanisms, and the location and mechanism of the in situ acceleration. These show that the rate of loss to diffusion transportation largely depend on the electron energy and is higher for the higher energy electrons in the slot region during recovery phase of the large storms. And furthermore, the detail comparison of each electron profile could suggest the location and efficiency of the in situ acceleration as a controller of the radial diffusion transportation by changing the phase space density gradient.
