Scientific paper

The magnetic field and plasma measurements aboard the Phobos-2 spacecraft revealed at the end of March 1989 several solar wind disturbances of a solitary type, which are considered evidence of direct interaction of the solar wind with a thin dust disc of Phobos. A a result of this interaction, a plasma cavity (the region of depleted plasma) is formed in the vicinity nearest Phobos (at a distance of 300 - 400 km). Some characteristics of this plasma cavity are similar to those of the plasma cavity in the lunar wake.
