The antisolar convection caused by the quasi-viscous interaction between the magnetosphere and the solar wind is projected into the ionosphere. The resulting ionospheric convection has the form of two jets localized along the morning and evening boundaries of the polar cap. The jets are connected through the auroral zone and midlatitudes. Convection is practically absent in the polar cap. At the jet boundaries there flow field-aligned currents which can be identified with currents of zones 1 and 3.
