The state of the compilation of a Catalog of Nearby Stars is described. This catalog will contain all known stars with trigonometrically and/or photometrically and spectroscopically determined distances nearer than 25 pc. Astrometric parameters (positions and proper motions) relevant for the final inclusion of the stars in the HIPPARCOS Input Catalog are stressed.
