About 60000 "bright" stars, regularly distributed over the whole sky, are requested in the Input Catalogue for the purposes of satellite's real time attitude determination and data reduction. The limiting magnitude of this "survey" should be clearly defined in order to preserve further statistical uses of this sample. As a conclusion, the limiting magnitude will be a function of galactic latitude and spectral types. The behaviour of various spectral types through the first step simulation process is studied and discussed; the influence of other proposals on survey star selection is pointed out.
