In the NASA Neutron Star Grand Challenge Project, we are developing the capability to carry out 3D simulations of neutron star mergers in general relativity. A code containing the full set of the Einstein equations coupled to the general relativistic hydrodynamic equations has been developed. Preliminary results on neutron star mergers, and their implications to gamma ray bursts will be discussed.
