The source parameters and radiation mechanisms of X-ray and gamma-ray emission in Seyfert galaxies are discussed with reference to available observational data and some theoretical results. The energies of X-ray and gamma ray emissions were in the range 0.1 keV-10 MeV, which is a few times greater than the known electron rest-mass energy for Seyfert galaxies. It is shown that electron rest-mass can limit the hard spectrum X-ray and gamma-ray emission through two distinct radiation channels: a thermal plasma; and a relativistic plasma. The relationship between the physical characteristics of relativistic plasmas and the radio and optical fluxes observed in BL Lac objects and Seyfert galaxies are discussed. It is suggested that mildly-relativistic electron-positron pairs are produced from the hard gamma-ray and X-ray spectra of Seyfert galaxies.
