A theory was developed for the long period motion of an earth-orbiting 24-hour satellite using extended phase space canonical formalism. Nonsingular Poincare variables were utilized in the development of the Hamiltonian which included the effects of oblateness, equatorial ellipticity, and lunisolar perturbations. Small values of the orbital eccentricity and inclination were assumed. All perturbations were developed through second order in the small parameters and variables of the Poincare system. Lunar motion is described by the second-order approximation of the Hill-Brown lunar theory. Solar motion was assumed to be elliptical about the earth-moon barycenter. Resonance due to equatorial ellipticity was handled by the application of a Lie series solution to the ideal resonance problem.
