Intermediate-energy protons (3.5-56 MeV) in the outer heliosphere are studied using data from the GSFC-UNH cosmic-ray telescopes on Pioneer 10 and 11. Flux and anisotropy information in this energy region is used to investigate the properties of the solar-flare-associated flux increases detected between September 1977 and September 1982 for radial distances between 5.8 and 28.5 AU. A propagation model is discussed, and its predictions for the 3-5 MeV protons are presented in diagrams.
